Tension erupted in Kumarsha Mohalla of Canning, South 24 Parganas, after a man was accused of killing his 68-year-old father, Yarali Molla. The incident reportedly took place on Friday morning, and Yarali was brought to Canning Sub-Division Hospital in a blood-soaked condition, where doctors declared him dead.
Police have identified the accused as Yarali’s younger son, Azizul Molla alias Saheb, who has been absconding since the incident. Authorities are questioning Yarali’s wife, Rizia Bibi, and have recovered several pieces of evidence from the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggest a long-standing rift between the father and son, reportedly over property. It is believed that when Yarali refused to transfer his property to his son, he was attacked with a sharp weapon.
